We at the Lodge of St Giles and St Luke would like to wish all our friends and visitors to our website a very happy new year and look forward to sharing with you our progress and memories this coming year. The last few months have been busy with an organised lunch, which managed to raise money to local charities, taking part in Remembrance Sunday and enjoying two regular lodge meetings which celebrated promotions for some of our members.

We look forward to the year ahead in which we will be celebrating our 75th anniversary and organising more social events.

It has been a very busy masonic season so far this year with plenty of work to do. It's also been great to be meeting again and catching up with friends face to face.

In December 2021 we held our installation meeting in which the Worshipful Master and his officers from the previous two years were proclaimed to remain in office for the ensuing year. Our last three meetings have been initiations and we will be passing one of our new members to the degree of a Fellow Craft in September.

We have an exciting few years ahead of us at the Lodge of St Giles and St Luke with a healthy membership waiting to take office. Next year we celebrate our 75th anniversary and hope to celebrate the occasion with plans being put forward.

The Future Starts Today

Starting from where we left off

Our last official meeting was December 2019 when we installed our new Worshipful Master and officers for the coming year. Everything was on course for our March meeting to carry out a very well rehearsed Second Degree ceremony which, due to Corona Virus unfortunately had to be cancelled at the last minute.

Like many other people and social organisations we had to find different ways of staying in touch and making sure that those unable to use platforms such as Zoom and WhatsApp were still contacted regularly. The West Kent Provincial Communication Team quickly rose to the challenge of organising virtual events, Masonic and non-masonic such as whiskey and gin tasting.

It has also been a time to reflect not just as a province but as a private lodge. how best to emerge from the pandemic stronger and more resilient. With the guidance of the membership pathway, we have been proactive in selecting a membership officer and creating a brand new website that has been issued with the West Kent Provincial Mark of approval. We are also on their list of preferred lodges ready to be considered for any prospective candidates looking to join freemasonry.

Continuing with the positivity, we have been able to meet officially at Dartford Masonic Centre where the Worshipful Master declared his installed officers to continue this masonic year ahead. A few of the members were able to meet after for a curry and were joined by 3 prospective candidates. We are currently holding our Lodges of Instruction at the Westwood Masonic centre, Welling and are preparing to carry out the ceremony that was cancelled back in March 2019.

UGLE Releases Inaugural Annual Report

THE UNITED GRAND LODGE OF ENGLAND HAS LAUNCHED ITS FIRST ANNUAL REPORT, IN ITS 300 YEAR HISTORY.

The annual report includes the new mission statement, which sits alongside the UGLE’s four key values of integrity, respect, friendship and charity. In addition, a recent study found that 75% of Freemasons take part in civic or charitable activities, compared to only 31% of non-Freemasons, in a matched geodemographic profile. Read more

Suspension of Masonic activity

Covid 19

Due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, all face to face masonic activity has been suspended until further notice. While we await guidance from the government and United Grand Lodge of England as to when our centres re-open
we continue to meet regularly via Zoom every 2 weeks for a virtual social get together. The province of West Kent Freemasons have been holding regular Zoom events for its members, keeping them up to date on what is planned for when masonic duties reconvene and conducting informative talks about Freemasonry.

Today we installed our new Worshipful Master and his Wardens

What a fabulous evening had by all. Congratulations to Stephan Jansen on becoming our Worshipful Master for the pursuing year and the installing Master Ray Armstead for such a wonderful Ritual. We look forward to the year ahead with all offices filled with light Blues. The meeting and festive board were both well attended. We would also like to thank our DPGM and his escorts and to Ian Gallehawk on his splendid photographs :)
